to Boston Area MA and Southern NH Badminton Clubs

Nashua, NH Badminton Club

Special Notices

There is no play on Friday, 20-Nov-09, since the gym is in use for the YMCA annual meeting.

This club meets year-round up to several times each week at the Nashua YMCA (603-882-2011) at 17 Prospect St. in Nashua, NH, near the Southern NH Medical Center.

Here are time slots from the gym schedule as of 15-Sep-09, subject to change. Contact the YMCA or ask players on the club e-mail list for confirmation of the current time slots. Also, the players have attempted to classify the sessions as to when certain levels of play are expected. For example, on Tuesdays and Fridays, lesser players are expected, and on Mondays and Thursdays the better players are expected.
-Monday: 7:45 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. 2 courts - regulars and intermediate+ level
-Tuesday: 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. 1 court - new and intermediate- level
-Thursday: 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. 1 court - regulars and intermediate+ level
-Friday: 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. 2 courts - new and intermediate- level
-Saturday: 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. 2 courts - all levels
-Sunday: 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. 2 courts - all levels

Players tend to communicate by e-mail to be sure there are enough (and not too many) interested players to participate on any particular day. This communication is done via membership in a Google Groups group: http://groups.google.com/group/badminton-nh

The group wants to maximize the attendance at 6 players on any given day when only one court is available. When there are too few players at the preferred level on any day, then any level player is welcome to join in.

For the Summer of 2009, starting on 11-Jul-09 and continuing through the end of August, sessions were earlier: from 1:00 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday play returned to later hours on 12-Sep-09: 3:30 to 6:30 p.m.

The per-visit fee is $10 for a non-member of the YMCA, except a first visit is free. Members are free. There are lower prices for seniors (65+).

This club cannot accommodate a large attendance. The gym at this facility has a dividing wall such that there are two separate smaller gyms; each one now has one badminton court. The number of gyms available for badminton varies, according to the day - see the above schedule.

Players are expected to bring feathered birds and drop one in a communal pile upon arrival. Thus far, attendance is mostly by mid-level players, but there are also both weaker/beginner and stronger/experienced players playing.

The Nashua YMCA is moving within the next year or two, but the current facility will remain open until the new facility is ready. Current plans are for a grand opening in the Fall of 2010. The facility will be located off of Exit 5 of Route 3 on Riverside Drive in the same campus as Stellos Stadium and Conway Ice Arena.
