to Winchester Badminton Club
Winchester Badminton Club members, both current and past, honored their currently oldest playing member on Tuesday, January 28, 2014, presenting Phil Bainbridge with a lifetime free membership and party. Phil turned 88 years a few days earlier and has been playing in the area for 50 years. Phil had the pleasure of playing with many past players from Weston, Needham, Natick, Wellesley, and of course Winchester. Well over 50 players attended to honor him.
Here are some photos from the evening by player Dave Chan:

The Winchester Badminton Club has been operating since 1932. The International Badminton Federation (IBF), now known as Badminton World Federation, was established in 1934, and thus Winchester has been involved with the sport longer than then the IBF!. When WBC leader Bob Gallant retired in his eighties, the Winchester Recreation Department continued the club.
