up to the Massachusetts Scrabble® Clubs
For the Fall and Winter of 2012, this group meets on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. on the first floor of the Danvers Library. They may change the night back to Thursdays in the Spring, and then it may use two rooms, as it used to do on Thursdays -- the group used to start the evening on the first floor and then after the first game it moved to the Children's Room located on the bottom floor. The library is named the Peabody Institute Library, but it is the town's library. It is located at 15 Sylvan St., and the library phone number is 978-774-0554.
This group is not a sanctioned club associated with the North American Scrabble® Players Association (NASPA), but it does use the NASPA Official Word List (OWL2). It is a low-key group - just playing to have fun with the game (in contrast to some of the more serious competitive clubs in the Boston area). Timers are used but not required. Newer players have the option of using cheat sheets.
As of the Fall of 2012, there are usually between 6 and 8 players.
For more info, you can phone active player Barbara Mahoney, whose home phone is 978-762-9510.
You can view a map showing where the group meets.
