Mike had just started playing with the new OWL3 lexicon, and the game was being played open-book with the new OWL3 words. There was one place in the game when having that list made a difference, since Mike noticed TREM was a new word and thus he could get his bingo on a TWS; this bingo was not the high-scoring one.
Mike scored 331 points by playing WhEEZI(E)R at 15H. Prior to this, Mike's highest play was for 239 points, which he made at the 2004 National Scrabble® Championship in Providence, RI.
When this game was played, it became the highest-scoring game at the Worcester, MA Scrabble® Club, with 655 points. This was only two points higher than the club record at the time.
