Setting Your Computer's Display Screen Area for WHAT

This page is in support of the WHAT (Wolfberg's Helpful Anagramming Tool) program.

The minimum recommended screen area of your computer's display is 1024 x 768 pixels. If it is smaller than 918 x 686 pixels, the WHAT window will not all fit on your screen. Here is how to change your screen area on a computer running W2K, and it is likely similar instructions pertain for other flavors of MS Windows®.

To see what you do have and to change it, click on the Start button on the taskbar, click on Settings, click on Control Panel. Double-click on Display. Select the Settings tab, and you are shown the screen area (mine says 1400 by 1050). The minimum size of the WHAT window is 918 x 686 pixels, so 1024 x 768 is a good setting.

When you resize your screen, you may have to click the OK button without a lot of delay. Also, icons on your desktop may be moved around, so if you have lots of them in a pattern you like, take some notes before making the change. This change will affect all of your viewing. Perhaps if you like your old setting for everything else, you would have to alternate to use WHAT. Perhaps the change will be helpful to you in general, and you could leave it. If you are finding certain programs are displaying text too small for you to read easily, you can have them use larger fonts.
