The web page for the Marblehead Club provides some details about adult coaching at the Marblehead Community Center in Marblehead, MA. Adult coaching also takes place at the Maugus Club in Wellesley, MA.
The Marblehead Youth Badminton (MYB) organization supports the training of kids 4-18. Two venues are used for the training: the Marblehead Community Center (a public facility) and the Gut 'N Feathers (private facility) also in Marblehead. The Program Director/Head Coach is Olympian Bob Malaythong. For all questions about this program and especially the Winter Session for juniors, please e-mail Coach Bob at Bob.Malaythong@gmail.com. The Winter session runs afternoons from January 5 - March 27. As of early January, 2009, they are still accepting new players for the Winter Session. Any interested parents should send an e-mail to Bob to get more information.
For any other general questions about junior badminton, contact the MYB president, Dee Colcord (email: DAColcord@aol.com).
Also, Thomas Yang (email: showjean@verizon.net) runs a youth program at the Acton Junior High School for ages 11-18. The next session is on seven Tuesdays from 28-Apr-09. Whenever Acton Community Education offers registrations, this class fills up fast, so check their site frequently. Tom is also running a follow-up class for those youth who have played for more than a year, and the next session is on seven Thursdays starting 30-Apr-09. Both of these sessions have hours 5:50 - 6:50 p.m.
Also, Wee Khin Tam (email: ralramnihk@verizon.net, home phone: 617-965-6408, cell phone: 857-928-6699) runs a program at Newton South High School.
Stella Wei has taught youth an introductory badminton class for students in grades 4-8 at the Dallin Elementary School in Arlington, MA early in 2008. At the moment, no such classes are being offered.
